2027 Medicare Changes Will Be Released Soon!

As we move toward fall, Medicare beneficiaries should begin preparing for the information that will shape their 2027 coverage decisions.

Some 2027 details have already been announced, while other important numbers and plan information will be released later in the year. The goal is not to make assumptions—it is to know what to watch for, understand the key deadlines, and prepare for the decisions ahead.

WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR

Each year, Medicare costs, plan benefits, provider networks, prescription drug coverage, and other plan details can change.

For 2027, Medicare beneficiaries should pay particular attention to:

  • Medicare Part B premiums and deductibles
  • Changes to Medicare Advantage plan benefits and costs
  • Provider and hospital network changes
  • Prescription drug coverage and costs
  • Changes to Medicare Supplement premiums
  • Annual plan notices from current insurance carriers

Even if you are happy with your current Medicare coverage, reviewing these changes is important. A plan that worked well for you in 2026 may look different in 2027.

WATCH YOUR MAIL THIS FALL

If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage or Part D prescription drug plan, your insurance carrier will send you an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC).

Do not toss this document aside—it contains valuable information on your plan.

Your ANOC explains what is changing in your current plan for the upcoming year. This may include changes to premiums, copays, benefits, prescription coverage, provider networks, or other plan features.

Reviewing this information before Medicare Open Enrollment gives you time to ask your trusted Medicare broker questions and determine whether your current coverage continues to meet your needs.

MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT

Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15 through December 7 each year.

During this period, Medicare beneficiaries may have an opportunity to make changes to their Medicare Advantage or prescription drug coverage for the upcoming year.

There is no reason to make a change simply because another plan looks attractive or an advertisement promises additional benefits. Your doctors, prescriptions, preferred hospitals, healthcare needs, budget, and priorities should all be part of the conversation.

LET'S REVIEW YOUR MEDICARE COVERAGE FOR 2027

If you do not currently have a Medicare broker advocating for you — perhaps you enrolled online or through a call center — I invite you to schedule a complimentary 2027 Medicare Review.

PREPARING FOR YOUR 2027 MEDICARE REVIEW

Before reviewing plan options, take a few minutes to gather:

  • Your current Medicare insurance cards
  • An updated list of your doctors and specialists
  • Your current prescriptions and dosages
  • Your preferred pharmacy
  • Any upcoming procedures or anticipated healthcare needs
  • Questions or concerns about your current coverage

Having this information available allows for a much more meaningful comparison.

A MEDICARE RESOURCE FOR EMPLOYERS, HR TEAMS & UNIONS

Medicare questions frequently find their way to HR professionals, benefits teams, and union representatives—particularly when employees are approaching age 65 or continuing to work beyond 65.

Questions such as “Do I have to enroll in Medicare at 65?”, “Can I keep my employer coverage?”, and “What happens to my HSA if I enroll in Medicare?” can be difficult for employees to navigate and may fall outside the scope of an employer's benefits team.

I am available to support employers, HR teams, unions, and their employees or members with complimentary Medicare education.

Educational programs can include Medicare 101 Seminars, Working Beyond 65: Employer Coverage or Medicare?, Medicare Updates, Medicare enrollment education, and Avoiding Medicare Scams.

These are educational, pressure-free programs designed to help employees and members better understand Medicare and their individual timelines—while giving HR and benefits professionals a trusted Medicare resource to refer them to when more individualized questions arise.

There is no cost to the employer, union, employee, or member for these Medicare education programs.

Employers, HR professionals, and union representatives interested in offering a Medicare education program are invited to contact me at Lori@MedicareWithLori.com or 440-840-7957.

MEDICARE DECISIONS SHOULD BE PERSONAL

Medicare is not one-size-fits-all.

The plan your neighbor loves may not be the right plan for you. The plan with the most advertised benefits may not provide the best fit for your doctors, prescriptions, healthcare needs, or budget.

A Medicare Review should be a conversation—not a sales appointment.

My role as an independent Medicare broker is to help you understand your options, compare the details that matter to you, and make an informed decision about your coverage.

As additional 2027 Medicare information becomes available, I will continue sharing updates and educational resources to help you prepare.
